Car bomb attack kills one in Iraq's Najaf

An all-too-familiar sign in Iraq.

As crowds gather in the Shi'ite holy city of Najaf, officials arrive to investigate a deadly bombing.

Police said a car bomb killed one civilian and wounded more than 10 in a popular market.

The blast damaged shops and left debris scattered everywhere.

It was not immediately clear who was behind the bombing, but Sunni Islamist insurgents have been regaining momentum in Iraq.

The attack comes on the heels of nearly 800 killings in May, the deadliest month yet this year.
