Storming the prosecutors office in Donetsk

The battle for control of a prosecutors office in Eastern Ukraine.

Pro-Russian protesters storm the office Thursday in the separatist-held city of Donetsk.

They accuse the office of working for the Western-backed government in Kiev.

The city of about 1 million people is at the center of an armed uprising across the steel and coal belt by mainly Russian-speakers threatening to secede from Ukraine.

The violence underscores the shifting security situation and suspicions in the region.

Inside separatists walk the hallways now under their control.

Ukraine's leaders conceded Wednesday they were "helpless" to counter the fall of government buildings.
