50 killed in bomb attack on rally, police and troops voting in Iraq

They had gathered outside a polling station to cast their ballots during early voting for national elections set for Wednesday.

Suicide bombers targeted a political rally as well as polling stations set up to accommodate security forces.

They'll be on duty the day of the elections so many headed early to polls on Monday to cast their vote.

(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) POLICEMAN, HUSSEIN FALEH, SAYING:

"We still need a change for the better to be like the Gulf states or foreign countries. We are an oil (producing) country and we have wealth. Our living conditions should not be like this, we have to live a better life."
