Nine Nepali mountaineering guides have been killed on Mount Everest.

The victims died when an avalanche swept down the side of the 8,850-metre peak. It’s been reported that three others were injured and an unknown number of people could be missing.

Almost 250 have died on the mountain since its summit was first reached in 1953.
