A mother who has been accused of murdering one of her children, is claiming that voices inside her head told her to do it. 40-year-old Laurel Michelle Schlemmer of McCandless, Pennsylvania allegedly attempted to drown her two youngest boys, 3-year-old Luke and 6-year-old Daniel.

According to police, she took her 7-year-old son to the school bus, returned home and subsequently told her two younger kids to get in the bathtub. Schlemmer later told police she got in the tub with the boys and said ‘crazy voices’ in her head demanded that she push them underwater.

Shortly after the horrific incident, Schlemmer dialed 911. When paramedics arrived at the home, they found the two boys unresponsive.

Sadly, the three-year-old passed away at the hospital. The older child is still alive, but his condition is listed as critical. Schlemmer told officers she tried to drown her youngest children so she could be a better mom to the oldest child.

She was arrested and is now facing charges of ‘homicide, attempted homicide, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of children and tampering with evidence’. Neighbors claim Schlemmer seemed to be a good mom and was often spotted outside playing with her kids.

However, in 2009, she was found guilty of ‘leaving a child unattended in a car’ in 112 degree heat.
