Seven dead after suspected WWII bomb explodes in Bangkok

Firefighters in Bangkok are putting out the flames at a warehouse where officials say workers tried cutting open a suspected World War II bomb with a blow torch.
The attempt by the scrap metal workers caused an explosion, killing at least seven and injuring 19.
(SOUNDBITE) (Thai) PRESIDENT OF WAT SAI COMMUNITY, NUTTANAN PANTHONG, SAYING:
"The construction workers were urging the warehouse to cut the bomb into pieces which caused the explosion. They wanted the money."
Officials found pools of blood and body parts scattered on the floor of the warehouse with charred twisted metal laid everywhere.
(SOUNDBITE) (Thai) EXPLOSIVE ORDNANCE DISPOSAL SUPERINTENDENT, POLICE COLONEL KAMTHORN UICHAROEN, SAYING:
"We believe the bomb dates back to the Second World War and weighed about 227 kilograms. As they probably didn't know what to do, they used a gas-torch to try to cut open the bomb."
