A bomb went off at the office of the Attorney General in Bangkok. It comes shortly after Thailand's ailing King gave a speech and urged people to maintain peace in the country. Investigations are underway.

A grenade exploded in Bangkok on Monday, a few hours after Thailand's revered king urged Thais to be generous to each other and to make the country peaceful.

[King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Thai Monarch]:
"If the public know that wealthy people understand poor people, give them support and are generous to the poor, this will bring peace to the country."

The king granted an audience to a group of Privy Council Members and their spouses at a Bangkok hospital, where he has been receiving physical therapy since September last year for fever, loss of appetite and lung inflammation.

However, a few hours after King Bhumibol made his speech, a grenade exploded at a compound of the Attorney General's office in Bangkok.

The police went to investigate the attack site on Tuesday to search for more evidence.

No injuries were reported.

It was the latest in a series of mysterious grenade or bomb attacks during these past months in Bangkok.

A state of emergency remains in place after deadly clashes between troops and anti-government protesters in April and May, during which 91 people were killed and up to 2,000 wounded.
