Gang attack: Hundreds of teenagers assault family in their car on Louisville street

Viola Loeffler describes the terrifying attack on her family by an estimated 200 teen as "like something out of a movie." It was Saturday night when scores of angry young men launched the unprovoked volley of rocks and fists on Loeffler, her boyfriend and her five young children.
It was 8 p.m. and her boyfriend, Ron Carter, was behind the wheel of the family car when out of nowhere a trash can smashed into the vehicle at an intersection.
Carter got out to investigate and that's when the menacing teens moved in on him and began punching.
Loffler described how, terrified for her children's safety, she moved into the driver's seat as rocks began flying. She recalls how a moment later a boy landed a vicious punch on her eye knocking her out.
She says everything after the punch is a blur but somehow the family made it to to the safety of a nearby Bader's food mart until police arrived.
The random attack left Loeffler with facial injuries and five traumatized kids, one of whom she says now needs counselling.
She believes the crowd of young men was anywhere from 50 to 100 strong. This security camera footage from a nearby gas station up her estimation. Police say it's closer to 200 and that they were involved in at least 17 incidents that night. There has been one arrest so far.
