Egypt re-opens Rafah Crossing with Gaza for three days

Egypt re-opened its border crossing into Gaza on Saturday for three days after a 50-day closure.
Access at the Rafah Crossing has been severely restricted for Gazans since July after Egypt’s military toppled president Mohamed Morsi.
The UN has criticized the closure for its effect on “the civilian population, including patients awaiting medical treatment.”
Nidal Salama is one of those desperate to get across into Egypt: “I have been waiting for the crossing to open since February 9. I need to get treatment. I am going to get an artificial limb,” he said.
Thousands of people have applied to go through the Rafah Crossing but only humanitarian cases or those needing medical treatment as well as students and foreigners will be allowed to leave during this three-day window.
