California high school stage collapses!

A high school stage crammed with 250 girls stomping in unison to the beat of Beyoncé's 'Run the world' collapsed mid-performance on Saturday night in Anaheim, California.

The students at Rosary High School, a Catholic school for girls, were dancing in the finale of their 44th annual Red and Gold show, when the accident took place. Two dozen girls were sent to local hospitals, though no one suffered any injury greater than a broken bone.

The performance was held at Servite High School, Rosary's 'brother' school, and there were more than 100 parents and teachers in attendance. The stage, which was built in the 1980s, measured 50-feet wide by 25-feet deep, including an extension that was constructed in 1996. It was the newer part of the stage that collapsed.

The girls that fell landed in the pit 10-feet below the stage. Dozens of ambulances rushed in to tend to the injured; all of the hospitalized students were sent home by the following day.

The finale was the third performance of the rally, which included a matinee and show the previous night, as well as a rehearsal Friday morning. The stage had been previously permitted for use, however an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the accident.
