As residents of Ukraine’s Crimea region held a secession vote on Sunday, an increased presence of Russian troops was visible in the Crimean village of Perevalne, site of a Ukrainian army base.

A group of the soldiers, in unmarked green uniforms, were seen shopping for groceries in a local store, queuing up with local residents to pay at the till.
