Pro-Russians smash in Prosecutor's office in Donetsk

Results of a referendum vote likely to make Crimea part of Russia aren't in.

That doesn't matter for these pro-Russian protesters in the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk.

They're smashing in the Prosecutor's office.

They too, want a referendum for their city to become part of Russia.

(NAT SOUND OF CHANTING "RUSSIA!" "RUSSIA!")

They're replacing a Ukrainian flag with a Russian one.

Meanwhile, others rally at the foot of a Lenin statue.

(SOUNDBITE) (Russian) KHARKIV RALLY PARTICIPANT, YULIA KURACHKO, SAYING:

"I personally want to separate from Ukraine and unite with Russia because we have such disorder here."

(SOUNDBITE) (Russian) DONETSK RALLY PARTICIPANT, NO NAME GIVEN, SAYING:

"We are one people. We and Russia - we are one people. To unite, they're saying it's some kind of unification - it's a natural process, Slavic people will be together. This is for sure."
