Former US immigrants join Mexico's vigilantes

A Mexican family returned from the US to rural Mexico, and are now involved in the vigilante movement to fight the Knights Templar drug cartel.

Heavily armed cartel members have controlled hundreds of towns and have extorted, kidnapped and killed for years.

About 20,000 people have joined the vigilante movement in the Mexican state of Michoacan to combat the cartel.

Al Jazeera's David Mercer, reporting from Coalcoman, speaks to one family on their fight.
