Being gay in Nigeria has never been easy. But life for homosexuals in Africa's most populous country has just become a lot harder – some would say almost impossible – with a new law that punishes same-sex marriage by up to 14 years in jail, and makes support for gay associations or clubs a criminal offense. Douglas Herbert speaks to Joseph Akoro, a Nigerian human rights activist and former director of the Initiative for Equal Rights.
