Floral tributes mark Kim Jong Il's death anniversary

North Korea residents marked the second anniversary of the death of former leader, Kim Jong Il by laying flowers in front of statues of him and his father, Kim Il Sung on Tuesday (December 17).
In footage provided to Reuters by North Korean state news agency, KCNA, people were seeing placing flowers and bowing in front of the statues on Mansu Hill in Pyongyang.

Kim's uncle Jang Song Thaek was killed last week just days before the anniversary. Jang had been executed for attempting to seize power and for driving the economy "into an uncontrollable catastrophe."
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's influential aunt Kim Kyong Hui remains a part of the regime's inner circle, even after the execution of her husband last week, the second most powerful man in the isolated nation.
