FOCUS - Russia blamed for Kiev's cold feet on EU deal

Protests have been continuing at Kiev's decision to pull the plug on the Association Agreement with the European Union, a treaty due to be signed this week in the Lithuania capital Vilnius. Many observers believe Ukraine’s back-pedalling was from fears that Russia would issue economicy sanctions against the former Soviet state. Ukraine has been performing a difficult balancing act between the EU and Russia recently, with most Ukrainians divided over the best course for their country's future.
