Talk about the catch of a lifetime. A fisherman named Bernie Campbell has spent the past 7 years trying to nab an albino wels catfish. The very rare fish had always managed to escape his hook, until recently.

Campbell took part in a fishing excursion with CatMaster Tours which brought him to the River Ebro near Barcelona. During the trip, he reeled in an absolutely gigantic 206 pound albino wels catfish, measuring 8 feet in length.

A guide with CatMaster tours spoke of the uniqueness stating “We have had two or three big albino catfish out of the river, but none that has topped 200 pounds. Albino catfish of that size are very rare indeed. This is the biggest we’ve ever seen. It was a very special fish.”

Currently it’s believed Campbell may have landed a world record for the largest albino wels catfish. Campbell who was fishing with his son during the catch, reportedly used pellets for bait.

It took him about half an hour to finally pull the massive fish in. During the struggle, Campbell came extremely close to tumbling in the water numerous times. The monster fish was weighed and released back to the river.
