Drug smuggling: Mexican couple arrested at Bogota airport with 3 kg of heroin

A Mexican couple was arrested on Thursday at Bogota international airport after allegedly trying to smuggle more than 3 kilograms of heroin out of Colombia.

According to local reports, Daniela Trinidad, Jose Moreno and their 20-month-old daughter were at El Dorado airport with two suitcases containing 3.345 kilograms of heroin.

Trinidad's suitcase contained 2.345 kilograms while the husband's luggage carried 1
kg.

After the X-ray scanner detected something irregular in their luggage, the couple was spotted by drug enforcement agents and detained for a luggage inspection, during which the drug was found.

According to reports, the couple was arrested while the baby was turned over to the Colombian Family Welfare Institute.
