Police found seven severed heads stuffed in plastic bags on the edge of a highway near Guadalajara, Mexico on July 2.
Local media reported that the discovery came after the arrest of three suspects involved in the killings of two people and other crimes. Based on a confession given by the suspects, police located and rescued a man who had been kidnapped and chained in a house in El Palomar. They then headed to the Guadalajara-Colima highway, where they found seven severed male heads of different ages packed in plastic bags. Police are investigating whether the suspects are related to more crimes in the area.
According to Reuters, the area has been hard hit by ongoing drug-related violence. Murders were up more than 5 percent during the first five months of this year compared with the same period a year ago.
