An elephant with a traveling circus became the victim of a drive-by-shooting in Mississippi after a bullet found its way into its shoulder.

The elephant is expected to make a full recovery. Local police have little idea as to what was the motivation behind the shooting. They also said that even though they are working with animal rights groups, conducting an investigation into the matter would be more difficult due to the elephant's inability to speak.

The elephant had been walking around eating carrots in a large pen at the time of the shooting.

With no arrests made, it is possible that the federal government may provide reward money for information leading to the arrest of the shooter, while rights group PETA is already offering $5,000.
