Funeral services in Jalalabad for five civilians killed in what Afghan officials say was an air strike by international forces the previous evening.

NATO confirmed a strike in the area against insurgents but said initial reports do not indicate that there were any civilian casualties.

But some people are still looking for answers.

SOUNDBITE: Tribal Elder, Malik Nimat, Saying:

"People here are very angry that this incident has taken place and martyred our people. We are asking government officials to talk to the Americans and find out why this incident has taken place."

Civilian casualties have long been a source of friction between Afghan President Hamid Karzai and his international backers.
