U.S. paddleboarder Ben Friberg began his attempt to stand-up paddle from Havana to Florida on August 1.

Friberg aims to cross about the 170-kilometer distance between the Cuban coast and Key West in about 20 hours. This voyage seeks to impose a record for paddleboarding.

This is not Friberg's first long distance trip. It was reported that Friberg paddled 238 miles down the Yukon River in Canada's Yukon Territory in June 2012.
