The Afghan Taliban has announced its opened an office in Qatar to help restart talks on ending the 12-year-old war.

Speaking at a news conference its representative Mohammed Naeem said the Islamist insurgency wanted a political solution that would bring a just government and end foreign occupation. It also wants good relations with Afghanistan's neighbouring countries, Naeem added.
