Admitting fault and apologizing is never an easy thing to do. However, it’s probably not as embarrassing as one man’s very open regrets.

69-year-old Richard H. Vermillion was ordered to write a letter of apology for urinating in public. The note has been released online.

Vermillion accepted a deal to write a letter in order to avoid going to court over public urination charges. Vermillion stated “I was recently visiting Annapolis for the day. Because nature called too quickly, I urinated off the side of the Hillman Parking Garage. What I did was unacceptable and an insult to the city.”

He had originally received a citation from a police officer in October 2012 after the mayor witnessed him with his pants down in the middle of the afternoon. Vermillion comically claimed he was “following the call of the wild”.

He has donated $1,000 to the MainStreets Annapolis Partnership as compensation for what he called his “inappropriate acts.”

What do you think? Were Vemillion's actions following the incident sufficient or should have more have been done?
