Chien Fu is the scapegoat of a martial arts school where he endures humiliation after humiliation. He is employed in the most thankless tasks and endures the taunts of a particularly sadistic foreman. By chance, he meets Master Pai Cheng-Tien, apparently a beggar but in fact a specialist in the snake technique, which he decides to teach him.
