Authentique docteur originaire de l'Île de la Réunion mais également compositeur et musicien (flûte traversière, guitare, saxophone, violon,), Doc Indigène, alias Jean-Claude Nurbel dans le civil, vit à Paris depuis quelques années.

Son premier disque, "Chamacha" (1995), enregistré au Studio Piros à l'Île de la Réunion, a rencontré immédiatement le succès auprès du public grâce notamment à la chanson-titre, "Chamacha", qui a été très vite reprise par d'autres musiciens.

Suivront les albums "Méli-Mélo" (1997), "Amène à moin" (1998 ) , couplé avec un mini-cd "Les Moutardiers et Doc Indigène chantent Noël", réalisé avec la chorale du Lycée Juliette Dodu de l'Île de la Réunion puis l’album "Sentimental" (2000).

Doc Indigène a enregistré en 2008 à Paris son dernier album en date : "Identité".
