Angelina Jolie reportedly underwent a double mastectomy.
Angelina Jolie recently publicly announced that she underwent a double mastectomy, as a precautionary measure. She made the decision to have both of her breasts removed after doctors discovered that she carried a mutation of a certain gene which drastically increased her chances of developing certain types of cancer.
She stated “My doctors estimated that I had an 87 percent risk of breast cancer and a 50 percent risk of ovarian cancer, although the risk is different in the case of each woman. Once I knew that this was my reality, I decided to be proactive and to minimize the risk as much I could.”
On April 27th, she officially completed the numerous and lengthy medical procedures as part of the preventative measure.
Christina Applegate is another celeb who has undergone a double mastectomy. She had both breasts removed after she was diagnosed with cancer back in 2008.
Applegate claimed to have suffered from what she called an “emotional collapse” following the surgeries and stated “I miss my exquisite breasts sometimes.”
