Philadelphia abortion doctor gets three life sentences for baby murders

A Philadelphia doctor is sentenced to serve three life terms for murdering babies during late-term abortions and other crimes at his clinic.

In a deal that spared him from the death penalty, 72-year old Dr. Kermit Gosnell, 72 -- was convicted Monday in a case that included testimony of a clinic worker who testified that the doctor had delivered live babies during botched late-term abortions and cut their spinal cords.

The jurors spoke publicly for the first time on Wednesday

"He is an abortion doctor who tried to help people who may not have had the money to get the services they needed. I think somewhere something went wrong in his mind perhaps that made him do these things to these children that were born alive."
