Sindh Madressatul Islam college elevated to the status of university by Governor Sindh.

The higher education is fast spreading in the province and the number of universities in Sindh have increased to 43 from 29 in the year 2003 and the number of those enrolled has doubled.

This was stated by the Governor of Sindh, Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan. He was speaking as chief guest at the 127th foundation day of Sindh Madressatul Islam.

The Governor said that promotion of higher education is very important for the national development and that it also results in positive activities in the society.

He also highlighted the significance of Sindh Madressatul islam and said that after elevation of status to the university this alma mater of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, will contribute more towards the development process in the country.

Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan said that the attachment of the Quaid-e-Azam Muhammed Ali Jinnah with this institution can be judged from the fact that he bequeathed one third of his property to Sindh Madressahtul Islam. He said that soon a law university would also be established in the province.

Sindh Education Minister, Pir mazhar ul Haq, said that in accordance with the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and directive of President Asif Ali Zardari as well as the manifesto of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), the government is striving for the promotion of education.

Vice-Chancellor of Sindh Madressah, Dr. Muhammad Ali Shaikh, said that his institution has now become a university. He said that this university will contribute a lot in the realms of higher education.

Speaker of Sindh Assembly, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Provincial Minister, Muhammad Ali Shah, and Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan were also present on the occasion.
