Chad clash kills former Darfur rebel leader

A rebel leader from Darfur has been killed in Chadian territory, close to the border with Sudan. Mohamed Bashar was killed in fighting with a rival faction within the Justice and Equality Movement, or JEM. JEM is the main rebel group that took up arms against the Sudanese government in Darfur ten years ago. It was founded by Darfuris, loyal to a prominent religious and political leader Hassan al Turabi. Bashar's group broke away last year and announced it would hold peace talks with Sudan's government, after an initial deal brokered here in Doha. Al Jazeera's Azhar Sukri reports.
