THE COMMON TONGUES - COLD AS THE DEVIL

PRESENTED BY MICKEY

Common Tongues are a Brighton based 5 piece that combine the belly fruit of Bob Dylan and The Beach Boys to tell compelling stories of their lives and loves. The band bring real gravitas to the folk scene with expansive instrumentation, cinematic arrangement and luscious 5-part harmony.

Formed in early 2010, the band soon found themselves on the bills for The Great Escape, Secret Garden Party and Playgroup Festival. They finished the year in the top 5 "best new acts in Brighton" via the Brighton Music Awards. In 2011, the band released the single, 'Jumping Ships' through Something Nothing Records to a great reception and played a number of high profile Brighton and London shows including a slot at Bestival and supports for Beth Jeans Houghton and The Miserable Rich.

2012 heralds the release of the much anticipated single 'Solitary Thinker' and a 4-track E.P. The band are also touring the country in association with Caffe Nero and playing festivals at home and abroad.

"The best band new band I've heard in Brighton this year" Tony Marks, New Music Show, Juice FM

"Foot stomping soul, charming harmonies, powerful violin and keys with an addictive cheeky
energetic presence on stage that can only spread silent grins across the audiences' faces. Its
no wonder they have such a loyal following already..." Regency Magazine, Feb 2011

"There's no greater feeling than being licked by the Common Tongues" Jeremy Sallis, BBC Radio Cambridge

"With their tasteful vocal harmonies, dynamic arrangements and undeniable pop appeal, the Common Tongues are definitely a band to keep a beady eye on." Mike Fawcett, www.stealingwax.com

'Gleeful patchwork of twirling folksy sounds that evoke a sweetly harmonious world of sand castles, ice creams and making love in the hay.' Raw Ramp Magazine
