Dutch King Willem-Alexander pays tribute to his mother

The event drew royals from all over the world as well as diplomats. At the New Church in Amsterdam, they gathered to watch King Willem-Alexander assume the Dutch throne.

The new monarch first paid tribute to his mother Queen Beatrix who abdicated the throne earlier in the day.

SOUNDBITE: King Willem-Alexander Of The Netherlands saying (Dutch):

"No-one knows what the future may bring. But wherever the path may lead and how far it may go, I will carry your wisdom and your warmth with me. And I know that I represent the feelings of many in saying we were fortunate enough to have you as our queen."

And with some of the world's most privileged (Prince Charles and Camilla) watching, he took his oath
