Dee Power has been involved with music from an early age. Beginning with the piano when she was 5 and having been classically trained, she spent many years as a soprano in St Fin Barre's Cathedral, and also studied organ under Colin Nicholls. During her time in UCC, she studied under acclaimed pianist Andrew Zolinsky, and also took vocal lessons with Deborah Roberts of the Tallis Scholars.
She regularly plays gigs in 2 bands around Cork, and has played in various venues, from The Metropole with Valdman's Four, to the Roundy with many notable musicians such as Michael Cassidy and Jan Brtnik, primarily as a session pianist and vocalist.
While Dee has been writing her own originals for many years, she has only begun her solo career in the last 12 months, and has played in venues such as the KC sessions in the Crane Lane, and The Fireside sessions in Mr Bradleys. She is currently spending more time on writing, and recording a debut EP which she hopes to release by September 2013.
Playing a mix of covers and original material ranging from folk and rock, to blues and jazz, her swinging keys and bluesy voice are sure to have you entranced!
Upcoming events include:
March 30th:Playing Bradley's Bar, Barrack Street, along with Daniel Stuart Taylor, Jack O' Rourke, Ali Bracken, and the Bradley Sisters.
April 6th; Accompanist of Daniel Stuart Taylor (Blood Brothers Star) in the Halfmoon Theatre, Opera House Cork.
April 24th: Playing the Fireside Sessions.
