The rehearsal for the inaugural ceremony for South Korea's first female president, Park Geun-hye, was in full swing on February 24 amid tight security.

About 70,000 people are invited to the inauguration on February 25th including state heads of Australia, Canada and Thailand as well as high ranking officials from the United States, China and Japan.

South Korean rapper Psy is scheduled to perform in the elaborate ceremony, kicking off Park's five-year term.

The country's political transition comes amid escalating tensions on the Korean peninsula after North Korea conducted its third nuclear test earlier this month, in defiance of U.N. resolutions and drew harsh international condemnation.
