This could be the final time that Sachin Tendulkar dons the whites for India but there is plenty more to look forward to as two of the best teams in the world clash in the first of four Tests.
Australia have already named their team and hand a debut to Moises Henriques with David Warner and Shane Watson returning from injury-enforced absence. Michael Clarke returns as captain to the country where he made an inspired debut in 2004 leading a side missing Ricky Ponting and Michael Hussey after the pair retired earlier this year.
India are looking to bounce back from their 2-1 Test defeat by England, leaving out Gautam Gambhir and giving Harbhajan Singh his 100th Test cap.
India-Australia series avehave provided some outstanding cricket over the years.
