French forces have made further inroads into Mali. They have seized the airport in Tessalit, the northernmost town reached so far. But signs of instability are evident elsewhere in the country. In the capital Bamako government soldiers have put down a protest by troops loyal to the ex-president, and a suicide blast has rocked Gao. Al Jazeera's Jane Ferguson reports.
