Syrian rebels free 300 prisoners

Gunfire exchanges outside this prison in Idlib--- where rebels say they have freed as many as 300 prisoners, in this latest video posted to a social media website.

Fighters from different rebel brigades have been engaged in a three-day fight to take the prison, and could be seen leading prisoners from their cells.

The northern province is one of the few still entirely under the control for President Bashar al Assad

Explosions rocked the rebel held city of Homs amid reports the Syrian government is stepping up its offensive to drive fighters out of the city.

Heavy shelling collapsed part of this building, leaving slabs of concrete hanging precariously over the street. Gunfire could be heard in every direction as well as the low roar of artillery.

Rebel fighters say they are determined to hold onto Homs despite ammunition shortages over the past weeks. They also say they've forced President Assad's forces to fight along the government's main supply line.
