Silence held for shooting victims

The U.S. House of Representatives observed a moment of silence on Monday (December 17), in mourning of the victims of the deadly school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.
The state's congressman, Christopher Murphy delivered some brief remarks before the silence was held. He struck a tone of perseverance, saying that the people of Newtown would get through this tragedy.
"Newtown is going to survive this because it is a close town and they hurt more because they are close but they also can survive because they are close. They can also survive because they just will get this inspiration from these twenty little kids, who just are asking this town to remember how good they were and try to equal that," Murphy said.
Two separate funerals were held on Monday for Noah Pozner and Jack Pinto, both six years old when killed by gunman Adam Lanza. The funerals will usher in a full week of memorials services and burials for the 20 children and six adults who were killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre.
