The Financial Burden of Managing Climate Change
The Asia Society - Asia Society
In December 2007, nearly 200 nations agreed at United Nations-led talks in Bali, Indonesia to launch negotiations on a new global pact to fight climate change. The resulting "Bali Roadmap" marks a new chapter in climate diplomacy after six years of disputes since the United States withdrew from the Kyoto Protocol, the existing international accord for combating global warming.Join us as the Asia Society convenes a distinguished panel of diplomats and policy experts to assess the outcome of the Bali talks and the challenges ahead. Does the resulting agreement meet, exceed or fall short of expectations? What can and should be done over the next two years in order to successfully reach agreement on a post-Kyoto framework? What can we expect from the United States, China, India, Indonesia and other major players in future negotiations? Speakers include Marty Natalegawa, Robert Orr, and Joseph Aldy. This event is moderated by Suzanne DiMaggio - Asia Society
