The aftermath of a deadly blaze at a clothing factory in Guangdong province, China.

Fourteen workers died in the fire which began on Tuesday afternoon.

Steel bars surrounding exits and windows prevented many employees from fleeing the burning building.

Now police say they have arrested one factory worker whom they accuse of starting the fire.

In an interview aired on Chinese state television, the suspect - known only as Liu - said he set the factory on fire over a wage dispute.

Liu said he was owed nearly 500 U.S. dollars and management were refusing to pay him.

Chinese media said local authorities were still conducting their investigation into the cause of the fire.
