A suicide truck bomb kills at least three people including a child in Wardak province in eastern Afghanistan.

Dozens were wounded in the attack, including NATO troops.

The Taliban is claiming responsibility for the bombing

The attack comes as the overall security situation is improving, says Brigadier General Gunter Katz in Kabul.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) BRIGIDIER GENERAL GUNTER KATZ, SAYING:

"Just by looking at the last month -- October - we got decent numbers here we had a drop of 20 percent of enemy initiated attacks compared to last year. This is a another clear sign that the insurgency is losing the fight.

Wardak saw the worst single incident suffered by foreign forces in the 11-year war last year when the Taliban shot down a transport helicopter, killing 38 troops, 30 of whom were American, mostly elite Navy SEALs.
