Police hunt attacker of teenage boy

Police are hunting a man who carried out an unprovoked assault on a teenage boy in Rochdale.

It happened between 5pm and 6pm on Saturday 15 September 2012 on Platting Lane, Kirkholt.

The 15-year-old victim was walking down the road towards Queensway when he was approached from behind by a light-coloured hatchback car.

It pulled up alongside him and a man got out of the passenger seat and punched the victim twice in the face without warning, knocking him to the floor. As he struggled to get up the offender then kneed him in the face before getting back into the car and driving off.

The boy suffered a broken jaw in the attack and was treated at hospital.

Both the driver and passenger are described as white, aged between 18 and 22 and had short blond hair.

Detective Constable Crystal O'Hara, of Rochdale CID, said: "The victim suffered serious injuries and is still recovering from what appears to be an unprovoked attack.

"Enquiries are ongoing but we appeal for any witnesses to this incident or any information which could lead to the identification of the offender."
