A flurry of Chris Gayle sixes helped the West Indies reach the final as they beat Australia by 74 runs. Gayle smashed the ball to all parts, aided by Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard and the West Indian bowlers played their part, Ravi Rampaul taking three wickets.
The West Indies will now face Sri Lanka in Sunday's final bidding to beat the home side for the first time in five attempts in Twenty20 International cricket. With Gayle and Bravo nursing injuries, they will have to perform at their best but if they do as they did in this match, then they have every chance.
This was a disappointing performance for Australia, for whom David Warner and Shane Watson failed and although George Bailey hit a magnificent 63 in 29 balls, they fell well short, bowle out for 131 in reply to 205 for four.
