Australian Anatomy Chart Had Significant Errors - as part of the news series by GeoBeats.

Remember the anatomy charts from your school days? Pretty basic stuff, right?

Well, the Federal Health Department in Australia has recently withdrawn one of its female anatomy posters, due to some significant mistakes. The image seems to show the pancreas in two places and depicts an arrow pointing to the intestine while labeling it as the stomach. It also points to ovaries, calling them kidneys and mislabels the stomach as the lungs.

Approximately 2,000 copies had been printed and more than 170 posters had been distributed to health establishments.

A health official stated “The lack of any attention to detail in these posters is an insult to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders that were the target audience for this material”. The posters were initially made for a health campaign for the public titled "Live Longer!" . The movement aims to improve the health of the country's indigenous people who have statistically lower life expectancies compared to that of the rest of the population.
