This year marks the eightieth anniversary of women earning the right to vote in Brazil, yet few of the 450,000 candidates running for Brazil's local counsel elections are female. In 2010, Dilma Rousseff became the nation's first female president, but female government officials are still few and far between in a country where 52 per cent of the voters are women.
