Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg met with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on Monday (October 1) during a visit to Moscow.

Medvedev hosts Zuckerberg, on his first visit to Russia, at his residence outside of the city.

According to the Russian government, information cooperation in IT technology and Skolkovo - the innovation hub known as Russia's "Silicon Valley" - are among the main topics which will be discussed during Zuckerberg's visit.

In Moscow, the 28-year old Zuckerberg hopes to boost Facebook's popularity in Russia, where it faces strong competition from the local social networks which have many more users than Facebook.

Despite his busy schedule Zuckerberg found time to walk on Red Square and to grab a bite at nearby McDonald's. He is also scheduled to meet with students from Moscow State University on Tuesday (October 2).
