Funeral for Hamas officers killed in Israeli strike

A funeral procession for one of the two Hamas officials killed in an overnight Israeli air strike in the Gazan town of Rafah.

Israel officials said that the men were involved in planning attacks on Israel and weapons smuggling from Egypt.

A third was critically wounded in the targeted attacks.

Officials from Hamas said the men were security officers in control of monitoring the tunnels between Rafah and Egyptian territory, through which goods are brought to and from Gaza.

Hamas has for months taken a backseat role in violence against Israel, but other groups have stepped up fire into the Jewish state.

Israel, however, holds Gaza's Hamas government responsible for any attack from the strip.
