A French court will announce on Tuesday (September 18) whether it will enforce an injunction that Britain's Prince William and his wife Kate have sought against magazine Closer to prevent further publication of topless photos of her. Lawyers for the royal couple are seeking damages from Closer and have filed a separate complaint against a photographer that could lead to a criminal case. Italian gossip magazine Chi, which like Closer is controlled by former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's publishing company, printed a special edition dedicated to the pictures on Monday after a weekend of publicity.

Rihanna led the nominations for the MTV Europe Music Awards on Monday with six nods. Country songstress Taylor Swift had five and pop stars Justin Bieber and Katy Perry had four each. Lady Gaga dominated last year's awards held in Belfast, coming away with four prizes and performing "Marry the Night". This year she is nominated for three awards - best live act, video (Marry the Night) and "biggest" fans. A host of other acts, including Lana Del Rey, Nicki Minaj, Jay-Z and Kanye West also earned three nominations each.

"Silver Linings Playbook," a dramatic comedy about a man who returns to his family home after eight months in a mental institution, won the top prize at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday (September 16). The film, by "The Fighter" director David O. Russell, starring Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence, took home the People's Choice award for best film at the festival. The runner-up for the prize was Ben Affleck's "Argo," a fact-based thriller about an outlandish plan to get six stranded Americans out of Tehran after the 1979 invasion of the American Embassy by having them masquerade as a Canadian film crew.
