Mineral, the label created by Priyadarshini Rao was a perfect Summer/Resort 2012 offering at Lakmé Fashion Week. With an emphasis on pretty prints, colours, easy styling and several mix and match options; the collection was ideal for holiday at resorts, mountains or beaches.

Working around a natural colour base as well as some strong neon options like orange, green, mustard, purple, yellow and lemon, Priyadarshini played with a variety of fabrics and motifs mixing the sheer with opaque and working around innovative silhouettes.

Textures of fabrics were the highlight of the collection, as crushed textiles were teamed with pretty romantic lace and crochet or cool summer materials like cotton, net, denim and linen.

Starting with a printed bubble smock over an acid green voile skirt; Priyadarshini moved to net tunic under a pink sack. Kerchief hemline skirts were edged with lace which also appeared at times on the bodice or yokes, while crushed cotton shirts worn with parallel pants were great options for the heat.

Layering seemed to be Priyadarshini's forte as she added lace gilets over puff sleeved blouses teamed with denim shorts and matched baggy harems with loose tunics. The tiered mini in blue, the slim lace skirts, the ruffled belts at the waistlines, pencil skirts some with tonal embroidery and drawstring blouses, were some of the many separates that were styled perfectly in layers of three and four garments. The patchwork, tiered, printed skirt, with the net ones under blouses and the idea of displaying double blouses; revealed the designer's mastery over styling. The many white shirt options offered by Priyadarshini during the show will be just right for quick changes during holiday trips.

Accessories were restricted to multi leather sandals and sling bags by AKA Bespoke while bright stockings completed the look.

Projecting a very folksy, urban, rustic, peasant look, Priyadarshini Rao revealed that each garment in her Mineral label could be dressed up or down to suit the personality of the wearer and mood of the occasion.
