Syria vows retaliation for slain officers

The Syrian government has threatened to retaliate after claiming that scores of its security forces were killed in attacks in and around the town of Jisr al-Shughour.

State television says 120 people were killed when gangs of armed men ambushed government forces.

But anti-government protesters in Syria say these are soldiers who were killed for refusing to open fire on demonstrators
